Spooky season is in full affect, last October I made a list of movies you should watch for the Halloween and so I figured I should also do one for the younger crowd.
You can find the original list here.
Hocus Pocus is on the other list, which is why it's not her but of course they should see that too.
Of course your kids have to watch the Halloweentown franchise.
It's pretty much an October staple for kids. Now they had to change the main actress for the fourth movie due to scheduling conflicts but all the other characters are the same.
I don't care what others say, this is obviously a Halloween movie that should also be enjoyed on Christmas. I don't think there's anyone that wouldn't think to watch this with their kids but I'm sure there are some minds that it could've slipped. The songs are wonderful and so is the animation it's a Classic.
Disney Channel Original Movies have always been the shit and majority contain life lessons that are easily comprehended by a large age range. Pretty much all kids are scared to look under the bed at some point even if just briefly and they also have imaginary friends so viola.
Another DCOM, this one is so cute and sweet and probably one of the most kid friendly realistic vampire movies. If your kid's into story telling this is a good movie for them.
Side note : I've noticed there always seems to be some sort of romantic back story for vampires.
This movie ends up being so sweet. It's a great laugh that won't drive you nuts to watch with your kid. You've got classic elements, a seemingly stuck up girl, crotchety old man, two best friends and a creepy house.
You can't not have an R.L.Stine piece on Halloween. Normally people would automatically go for goosebumps but there's a variety and some of them might actually scare your kids. I don't know what their tolerance is and they also might not have the attention span for a few. So naturally I picked something more updated with the same feel by the same person.
This film is so cute and so is the sequel, if your kid is kind of a scaredy cat this is perfect. It's got all the monsters and the obnoxious sibling having a bunch of fun to keep your little ones dreams pleasant.
Honorable Mentions
Scooby Doo
All kids love Scooby Doo, what adult doesn't love Scooby Doo.
I have three great Halloween options from this franchise.
The Witches Ghost : Set during Halloween, it's about witches, obviously the perfect choice.
On Zombie Island : Not set during Hallwoeen but it's about zombies and finding real hauntings, it also used to freak me the fuck out when I was really little but I kept watching it anyway.
The Goul School : It's about ghouls!!! It's also solely Scooby and Shaggy which means it's just a good spooky time.
